We have looked at two themes lets now examine two Principles I believe will predominate in 2011.
PRINCIPLE # 1 The Methuselah Principle: Hopeful dying that ushers in eucatastrophic change!
21 When Enoch was 65 years old; he became the father of Methuselah.
27 Altogether, Methuselah lived a total of 969 years, and then he died.
Gen 5:21, 27) Methuselah’s Father was Enoch the first prophet in the Bible. What God prophesied through Enoch was immortalized in the name, which he gave his newborn son. At 65 years of age Enoch named his boy Methusaleh. It meant roughly" When he dies it shall come" or "His death shall bring." What was to come? The great catastrophe we know as Noah’s flood! (A much deserved Liquid judgment) For 969 years Methuselah-the oldest living man in Holy Scripture was a walking sermon illustration. A contemporary of the great ones in the earth including Noah Himself, the oldest living man proclaimed the patience and mercy of God to an extraordinary degree. Methuselah represented the only thing standing between the world and catastrophic change! Can you imagine if your little child represented in their death "The end of all things?" When Methuselah had a cold all would tremble. The Bible notes "Enoch walked with God" after "Methuselah was born". If the death of my son equaled the end of the world I would walk with God too! Yet notice for our purposes many Great ones will die this year in great numbers yet only to trigger in their passing the very opening of the windows of heaven and the breaking up of the great fountains of the great deep.(Genisis 7:11) 2011 will equal a year of Eucatastrophe (a Positive catastrophe for righteousness) Rather than the type of destruction seen in Noah’s time. (That is yet future)
PRINCIPLE # 2. The Noah Principle: A year of deliverance through destruction
28 When Lamech was 182 years old; he became the father of a son. 29He named him Noah [Relief], and said, "This child will bring us relief from the work and painful labor of our hands since the Lord has cursed the ground." (Gen 5:28-29) The day Methuselah died the Flood came! Yet Methuselah and Noah’s life "Overlapped" Can you imagine old Methuselah the patron saint of geriatrics helping Noah saw a log or two for the ark! God has a sense of humor. Noah’s name meant comfort. Noah’s father Lamech whose name meant, "The despairing" felt that his son would provide somehow the safety, security and release from coming catastrophe. Lamech was right. But notice again the mercy and patience of God. It took 120 years for Noah to finish that strange work we call the "Ark." Noah proclaimed the message of impending judgment (120 years) along side of Methuselah who exhibited the same message for 969 years! What a patient and gracious God we serve. The catastrophes and eucatastrophes of 2011 should not come as a shock to anybody. On the negative side of the ledger"When you hit bottom you have been falling a long time." on the positive side when reaping unbelievable harvests of blessing you have been faithfully "waiting for a long time." Crowns will be lost and gained in 2011. Strangely made submarines (Alvin- Ministry works) will go deep and find unspeakable treasures from past failures! Also many will die triggering a "Good" release of the windows of heaven with a corresponding breaking up of the fountains of the great deep. And finally perhaps the strangest principle of all we will witness on a grand scale Deliverance through destruction! The floodwaters, which destroyed the world, lifted the ark of Noah and his family higher than they had ever been before! It is strange that the very waters, which equaled judgment for some, were the means God used to float the strangest and most wonderful work, of the age Noah’s ark! Take comfort saints! Too many who have been faithfully waiting and serving-your year of vindication has come!
